Wapta Falls Hike- The most obvious activity in the immediate area is to hike to Wapta Falls. The falls are beautiful and huge. There are two options to hike to the falls from this campsite. One is to drive Beaverfoot Rd back to HWY 1 and turn West until you see the sign for Wapta Falls on your right.

At spectacular Wapta Falls on the Kicking Horse River a whopping 96 cubic metres per second of water rushes over a rocky ledge about 100 feet wide. Impressive is not only the power and scale of the waterfall, but also the beautiful turquoise colour of the glacial water above and below the powerful cascade.

Wapta Falls in Yoho National Park is just off Highway 1 right after you enter Yoho National Park from Golden. It is located 15 miles west of Field and 20 miles east of Golden along the Trans-Canada Highway. There is a 1.25 mile-long road that leads to the trailhead, which is open in the summer. The road to the trailhead is closed in the winter.

It is the largest waterfall of the Kicking Horse River, at about 18 metres (59 ft) high and 107 metres (351 ft) wide. Its average flow can reach 96 cubic metres per second (3,400 cu ft/s). The name stems from a Nakoda word meaning.
